In short
- Your files and archives stay on the device. We never receive them.
- No account and no sign-in. The app sends nothing to us.
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no notifications.
- Archive passwords are held in memory and never saved; server passwords stay in the Keychain.
- Servers you connect are reached directly, never through us.
- Wi-Fi Transfer and Nearby stay between your own devices.
- Purchases run through Apple — we never see payment details.
A summary, not the agreement. The sections below are what applies.
01 What this policy covers
This policy covers MyZip: Zip & RAR File Opener for iPhone and iPad, including its share extension, published by Turbo Ventura of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the policy referenced by the app’s App Store listing.
The company and this website are covered by our general privacy policy; where the two overlap, this page is the more specific and it governs the app.
For anything here, write to [email protected].
02 What stays on your device
MyZip opens, extracts, compresses and organises files, and all of that work happens on the device itself. We run no service for this app, and it sends us nothing. The following never reaches us, and there is no mechanism in the app by which it could:
- Your files and archives, and everything inside them.
- File names, folder paths, recents and favourites, and the list of what an archive contains.
- Anything you type in the app: archive passwords, the app’s passcode, and the address and password of any server you connect.
- The Wi-Fi Transfer code and the code used to pair with a nearby device.
A password you type to open or create an archive is held in memory while the archive is open and is not saved. Server passwords and keys are held in the iOS Keychain, never in a log.
Your files are ordinary files. MyZip keeps them in its own folder, which you can see in the Files app, so other apps you open them with can read what you hand them. They are not encrypted by the app, and the app lock (section 7) does not change that. Files you hand over through the share extension wait in a storage area shared only between MyZip and its extension, on the device.
03 What is not in this app
This version of MyZip contains none of the following:
- No analytics and no crash reporting. The app has no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
- No advertising. The app has no ad SDK, and it never asks for permission to track you.
- No service of ours. The app has no account, no sign-in, no device identifier sent to us, no remote settings and no in-app messages from us.
- No notifications. The app does not ask to send them.
What Apple may share. If you turned on Share With App Developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics that it has collected, under its own policy. The app takes no part in this, and you can turn it off there.
Our website. The Terms and Privacy links on the purchase screen open pages of this website, which our general privacy policy covers.
Writing to us. There is no support form in the app. If you email us at [email protected], you send that mail yourself from your own mail app. We receive your address and whatever you send, and use them to answer you. Please do not send us an archive’s password, or a server’s. We will never ask for one.
04 Purchases and subscriptions
MyZip Pro is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system using StoreKit, as a weekly or yearly subscription or a one-time purchase. Apple takes the payment and holds the payment details; we never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account credentials.
The app does not report purchases to us. It keeps the entitlement on the device, in the Keychain, checked against Apple’s service, so a lost purchase is recovered with Restore rather than by asking us. Apple gives us sales reports; they do not tell us who you are.
Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
05 Servers you connect
The app can browse a server of your own, copy files down from it and send files up to it. In every case the connection goes from your device straight to that server — it does not pass through us, and we receive no copy of anything it returns.
- Your own server (SMB, SFTP, FTP and FTPS, WebDAV, Nextcloud, ownCloud): the connection’s address and settings are kept on the device, and its password, key and any host key or certificate you accepted are kept in the Keychain. No developer key and no third party is involved at all. A host key or a self-signed certificate is shown to you and remembered only if you say yes.
- Unencrypted protocols. Plain FTP and WebDAV without HTTPS send your password and files over the network unencrypted, as they do from any app. Prefer SFTP, FTPS or HTTPS when a server offers them.
- DLNA and UPnP media servers are found on your local network with no address or account. Nothing about them is saved, and you can only browse and download.
- What each server sees is the same thing it would see from any other client: your sign-in, the folders you open and the files you send or ask for, along with your IP address.
Folder listings are kept on the device between visits, so a folder opens quickly. Removing a connection removes its password from this device; the files stay where they are, on the server.
Folders you link from iCloud Drive, a USB drive or another app are reached through iOS, under the terms of whoever provides them. MyZip does not connect to any cloud account of its own in this version.
06 Moving files between your own devices
Neither of these touches us, and neither needs the internet.
- Wi-Fi Transfer starts a small web server on the device, on your own network, only when you start it. A browser has to enter the code the app shows before it can see anything. Uploads and changes are on by default and deleting is off until you turn it on. The app lists which browsers are connected and what moved, and the page pauses when the app leaves the screen. The page runs over plain HTTP, so use it on a network you trust.
- Nearby finds other devices that have MyZip open on Receive, using Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity, and shows them this device’s name as iOS reports it. Files go directly between the two devices once the sender enters the six-digit code and the receiver accepts, and each file is checked with SHA-256 when it arrives.
07 App lock
If you turn on the passcode, the check for it is held in the iOS Keychain and never leaves the device. Face ID and Touch ID matches happen inside iOS; the app only learns whether one succeeded. The recovery code is shown to you once and is not mailed or sent anywhere, so we cannot recover it for you.
The lock keeps other people out of the app. It does not encrypt your files, which stay readable from the Files app.
08 Permissions the app asks for
iOS asks before the app may reach anything sensitive. Each request happens only when you use the feature that needs it, and declining one disables that feature and nothing else.
- Photos, to add only — when you save extracted pictures or videos to your library. The app cannot read your library with this permission. Importing from Photos uses the system picker, which needs no permission and hands the app only what you picked.
- Local network — for Wi-Fi Transfer, Nearby, and for finding and reaching servers on your own network. All of it stays between your own devices; nothing about it touches us.
- Face ID — only if you add it to the app lock.
MyZip never asks for your location, contacts, calendar, camera or microphone, for notifications, or for permission to track you.
09 Retention and deletion
- Files and archives — on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Items in Recently Deleted are removed after thirty days. Deleting the app removes its own folder and what is in it; files you left in iCloud Drive, another app or a server stay where they are.
- Passwords and the passcode — iOS keeps Keychain items after an app is deleted, so MyZip clears what it left there the next time it is installed.
- Email you send us — kept for as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. Write to [email protected] to have it deleted.
The app sends us nothing else, so we hold nothing else to delete.
10 Children
MyZip is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age where you live. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them, and the app asks no one for a name, an email address or an age.
11 Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw a consent you gave, and to complain to your supervisory authority — under the GDPR (EEA and UK), the KVKK (Türkiye), the CCPA/CPRA (California) and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, among others.
We do not sell personal data. The app gives us none, so the only personal data we could hold is an email you sent us. To exercise a right, write to [email protected].
12 International transfers
The app sends nothing to us, in any country. A server you connect may be outside your country, and that is your choice. Apple processes purchases, and an email you send us is handled by our mail provider; either may be outside your country.
13 Security
The strongest measure here is structural: we never receive your files, your archives or your credentials, so we cannot leak them. Every archive is checked before anything is written: entries that try to escape their folder are refused, and so are archives that would expand suspiciously far, unless you choose to go on. Wi-Fi Transfer is code-gated, runs only while the app is on the screen, and allows deleting only when you turn that on.
14 Changes to this policy
This page describes the version of MyZip on the App Store today. If a later version adds something this page says is absent — analytics, advertising, a cloud account, a service of ours — this policy and the App Store privacy labels change with that version, and the date at the top changes with them.
