MyZip
Zip & RAR File Opener · Unzip, Unrar & 7z Extractor
The archive someone sent you, the folder you need to send back, and the files on the computer across the room. MyZip opens them, packs them and moves them, on the device and with no account.

Open what you get
Whatever they sent you, look inside before you unpack it.

01
Look before you extract
Browse the folders inside an archive, search it, and peek at text and images without unpacking anything.
-
02
All of it, or only what you need
Extract the whole archive or a selection, with or without its folders, beside the archive, in a folder of your own or wherever you choose each time.
-
03
RAR, including the awkward ones
RAR 4 and 5, solid archives, data and header passwords, and multi-volume sets when the parts sit side by side. RAR is read-only here: MyZip opens it and does not create it.
-
04
Checked before anything is written
An entry that tries to escape its folder is refused. So is an archive that would expand suspiciously far, unless you look at the warning and choose Extract Anyway.
-
05
Progress and a way out
Progress you can read and a Stop button that works. In a RAR, an entry that has to be skipped does not stop the rest from landing.
02
Compress
In a few taps
Pack it up, with a password if it needs one.
- Files, folders and photos
- Pick from the app, the Files app or your photo library, and pack them into one archive.
- The format and the level
- Choose the format and how hard to compress. Photos, videos and music are already compressed, so they are stored as they are and packing stays fast.
- A password when you want one
- ZIP with AES-256, or 7z with its own AES. A password cannot be recovered, by you or by us, so keep it somewhere safe.
03
Files
Not only archives
What comes out of an archive needs somewhere to live.
Extracted, Received, Archives and Photos are ordinary folders you can see in the Files app, so nothing you unpack is trapped inside MyZip.
-
01
A real file manager
List or grid, sort, search, select, rename, new folders, move, copy, share, favourites and recents, with a viewer for what you open.
-
02
Right beside the Files app
MyZip’s folder shows up in the Files app, and you can link folders from iCloud Drive, a USB drive or another app so they sit in the same list.
-
03
Recently Deleted
What you delete stays for thirty days, including what a browser deleted over Wi-Fi.
-
04
Where the space went
A storage breakdown of what is taking up room, and a way to save pictures and videos back to Photos.
04
Move
Between your own devices
From the computer, from the next phone, from any app.
Wi-Fi Transfer and Nearby run between your own devices. Neither one passes through us.
- Wi-Fi, from any computer
- Start Wi-Fi Transfer, open the address it shows in a browser on the same network, and enter the code. Uploads and changes are on, deleting stays off until you turn it on, and the page pauses when the app leaves the screen.
- Phone to phone
- Send files to MyZip on a nearby iPhone or iPad with a six-digit code. The other side accepts or declines, files go straight between the two devices, and each one is SHA-256 checked when it arrives.
- From every other app
- The share sheet takes any file, photo or video into Received, and a lone archive opens itself. Archives also open directly with Open in MyZip.
- From Photos and Files
- Bring in originals with the system pickers, which hand the app only what you picked.

Servers
Files elsewhere
Your NAS is one more folder.
Your own server
- SMB Address and password
- SFTP Address and password
- FTP / FTPS Address and password
- WebDAV Address and password
- Nextcloud Address and password
- ownCloud Address and password
Media servers
- DLNA / UPnP Found on your network
A connection runs between your device and the service you chose. It passes through nothing of ours.
-
01
Browse it like a folder
Folders, sort, filter and hidden files, plus new folder, rename and delete where the server allows them. Listings are kept between visits and refreshed when you come back.
-
02
Download, then open
Bring a file or a whole folder down to Received or a folder you choose. An archive you download opens by itself.
-
03
Upload from anywhere in the app
Send files or a finished archive to any folder on the server, with progress, speed, Stop and Try Again. A folder goes up as an archive: compress it, then upload.
-
04
You decide what to trust
A server’s host key or self-signed certificate is shown to you and remembered only if you say yes.
06
Lock & settings
Set it once
- A lock on the app
- A 4- or 6-digit passcode with Face ID or Touch ID, locked when you choose, covered in the app switcher. It keeps other people out of the app and does not encrypt your files.
- A recovery code you keep
- Shown once when you set the passcode, and it can be replaced later from Settings. Nothing is mailed, so keep it somewhere safe.
- Your way
- Where extracted files go, what to do when a name is taken, the default format and level, light or dark with three depths of dark, accent colours and reduced glass.

Privacy
No account
The archive is yours, and so is what is inside it.
- No account with us, and nothing to identify you by.
- Opening, extracting and compressing all happen on the device.
- No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, and nothing sent to us.
- A connection runs straight from your device to your server, never through us.
- Archive passwords are held in memory and never saved; server passwords stay in the Keychain.
- Purchases go through Apple; we never see payment details.

Questions
Before you download
01 Which archives does MyZip open?
17 formats: ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, cpio, ar / deb, and files compressed with gzip, bzip2, xz, LZMA, LZ4, Zstandard, LZFSE, Brotli, zlib, lzip, Unix compress. The Supported Formats screen in Settings lists what your version opens and creates.
02 Can it create RAR files?
No. MyZip opens RAR, including solid, multi-volume and password-protected archives, but it does not create RAR. New archives are ZIP, 7z or TAR, plain or compressed.
03 Does it handle passwords?
Yes. It opens password-protected ZIP, 7z and RAR archives, and can set a password on a new ZIP (AES-256) or 7z. A password you type is held in memory while the archive is open, and is not saved.
04 Do my files go to a server?
Not to ours. Opening, extracting and compressing all happen on the device, and we run no service that receives your files. They go elsewhere only when you send them: to a computer on your Wi-Fi, a nearby device, or a server you connected.
05 How do I move files from my computer?
Open Wi-Fi Transfer in the app, visit the address it shows in a browser on the same network and enter the code. Keep MyZip on the screen while you transfer. You can also drop files into its folder in the Files app.
06 Can it reach my NAS?
It connects to SMB, SFTP, FTP and FTPS, and WebDAV, including Nextcloud and ownCloud, with an address and a password, and finds DLNA media servers on your network by itself. This version does not sign in to cloud drives such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
07 Does it have ads or analytics?
No. This version has no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting, and it sends nothing to us.
08 What if I forget the passcode?
Use the recovery code the app showed you when you set it. It is not mailed anywhere and we have no copy of it, so we cannot open the app for you.
09 What does Pro add?
Nothing is locked yet. Everything on this page works without paying today and what stays free has not been decided, so for now Pro is a way to support MyZip. The purchase screen says the same.
